Illustrative Circle examples

See how different Circles come to life.

Four Circles that are nothing like each other, each followed from what was scattered to what it became. All four are made up, and every one of them says so on its own page.

None of these is a customer

Every Circle below is a fictional story written to demonstrate how a Circle is built. The people, names, places and pictures were created for this site. Nobody in them is a customer and none of the pictures shows a real person. Real customer studies will be published separately and labelled distinctly. One of the four is marked a concept example, which means it also describes a workflow the product does not fully support yet, and that page names the gaps.

  1. Four friends in their late twenties standing arm in arm in front of a festival entrance arch, bags still on their backs.

    Illustrative example

    Friends, every summer

Four friends, six festivals and one trip that was not a festival. Nothing damaged, nobody lost, and not one of the paid creation tools used. A record being made while it is still happening.

    • One Circle, an album per August
    • Photos from four phones
    • Two accounts that disagree
    • Set times, stages and names
    Read Friends, every summer
  2. An older woman in an armchair pointing at loose printed photos spread on a table, while a care worker beside her listens and writes in a notebook.

    Concept example

    Margaret’s Circle

A family Circle about a woman of eighty-seven, used in the room with her, with one carer invited to help. Labelled a concept because parts of the workflow it describes are not built yet, and it names which parts.

    • A family, a resident and an invited carer
    • What a carer does and does not do
    • Removing access without losing the words
    • Seven requirements, four of them built
    Read Margaret’s Circle
  3. An amateur football team of fourteen posed in two rows on a muddy pitch in 1974, a manager in a sheepskin coat at one end.

    Illustrative example

    A club across generations

Fifty years of an amateur football club, kept by the people who played for it. The oldest member is eighty-one, the youngest is fifteen, and the youngest is the reason it matters.

    • 1974, 1998 and now, same badge
    • A print that hung above a radiator
    • Nineteen recordings, no uploads
    • The clubhouse from four corners
    Read A club across generations
  4. An Italian bride and a Nigerian groom standing together in a sunlit courtyard in 1987.

    Illustrative example

    Rosa and Femi, Trani 1987

One wedding, followed the whole way through. The deepest of the four and the only one that uses everything: restoration, reframing, Likeness and a 360 of the venue.

    • Six members, three roles
    • Five contributors, one evening
    • A face mended without inventing one
    • A courtyard rebuilt from four views
Read Rosa and Femi, Trani 1987

Where the real ones are.

There are none yet, and we would rather say so than fill this page with stories we made up and did not label. We are documenting the first Circles now, with the permission of everyone in them. When one is published it will appear here with its participants named, and it will not look like the four above.

Every element is permissioned

Every photo, quote, voice excerpt and name in a published study is there because the person it belongs to agreed to it, specifically.

Nothing is invented

No composite families, no representative quotes, no illustrative numbers presented as findings. If we have not documented it, it is not on the page.

Participants see it first

Nobody reads their own case study for the first time on the internet. Everyone involved reviews it before publication, and can withdraw.

Private material stays private

A study describes what a Circle built. It does not open the Circle.
