Your photos are on a phone, in a cloud library nobody else can reach, in a group chat that has scrolled past and on a drive in a drawer. Everyone else has a different half of it. Put it all in one private Circle and it stops being four incomplete versions.
How a Circle gets built
Record a story in your own voice, or write it down, and attach it to a photo, an album or a person. Two people can remember the same afternoon differently and your Circle keeps both, each in the name of whoever told it.
How stories are kept
Repair creases, tears and colour that has shifted with age, then prepare the result at the proportions a particular frame needs. Your original is never replaced, and everything created from it stays labelled as created.
See a restoration, both ways
Nobody takes a picture of a whole room; they take four corners of it on the same afternoon. Bring those together and the place becomes somewhere you can turn around in, and the whole record stays yours to hand to whoever comes next.

The difference is structural rather than a matter of tone. These are not settings you have to find and turn off. They are things the product does not have.
There is nowhere for your Circle to be seen from the outside. Not a private setting on a public thing: there is no public thing, and every member was invited by someone already inside.
What your Circle holds is shown in the order it belongs in, because nothing is trying to keep you here. No follower counts, no likes, no reach, and adding what you remember is not a post.
The people using it are the customers, so there is nobody else to sell to. What is inside a private Circle is not used to target anything at anyone.
